Meet the 2026 Candidates for Induction

Mark Bates
Mark Bates plays for the Golden Aces in Orangeville, Ontario. An Electronics Engineer by trade, he was born in 1946 in England, worked in North and South America, played hockey since he was six years old, enjoys golf, rodeo and sailing, and tries to see the good in every day.

Darrell Patterson
Darrell Patterson plays defense for the Peterborough Senior Hockey Club. Born in 1945, he has been a teacher all his life and enjoys running when not playing hockey.

Ron Cooper
Ron Cooper plays for the Stoney Creek Oldtimers Hockey Association in Hamilton. Born in 1942, he started skating at age 3, played minor hockey, juvenile, university, and industrial league hockey, and now oldtimers. He has won many tournament championships.

Wayne Doherty
Wayne Doherty was born in Sudbury in 1946 and plays centre for the Peterborough Senior Hockey Club. He golfs and plays baseball in addition to hockey.

Harry Hodgson
Harry Hodgson plays defense for the Bendo Blazers Hockey in Windsor and is the Commissioner for the club. He played for the Western University Broncos and has won many senior hockey tournament championships in Canada and the US. His career was in the field of addiction, and his motto is, “Tell it like it is!” He is also a 1946 model!

Alf Kaldma
Alf Kaldma plays for the KW Daytimers in Waterloo. He studied Jacques Plante’s teachings, has played lots of pick-up and oldtimers hockey, and a few years ago, playing 30 games in a K-W Oldtimers season, earned a GGA of 1.8. Alf was born in Germany in 1945.

Ed Koniuch
Ed Koniuch plays goal for the Cambridge Monday Nighters and has 15 grand- and great-grandchildren! Born in 1943 he enjoyed a long career in policing, and successfully backstopped many, many tournament teams, winning championships, across Canada and the US.

Dale Larson
Dale Larson was born in the Netherlands in 1946 and plays centre for the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor. He has 16 grand- and great-grandchildren, was a high school chemistry and biology teacher, and played hockey all his life – Peewee to Oldtimers – also winning many tournament championships in Canada and the US.

Jim Litwiller
Jim Litwiller, born in Kitchener and plays in Waterloo today, for the KW Daytimers, has been awarded MVP honours in tournaments, and also enjoys golf, hiking and travelling. Nineteen-forty-four is his year of birth.

Bob McIver
Bob McIvor plays defense for the Cambridge Monday Nighters. Born in 1944, his life’s work was college faculty and administration, he has travelled widely to play in many tournaments and enjoys spending time with his family and antique cars.

Scott McRae
Scott McRae was born in Montreal in 1945 and plays left wing for the KW Daytimers. A teacher and principal, he grew up playing junior hockey, university hockey, senior hockey and now oldtimers.

Mike Morrissey
Mike Morrissey plays centre for the Peterborough Senior Hockey Club. He was born in 1946 and worked in industry and academia. He enjoys coaching hockey and soccer.

Gray Otton
A goalie, Gray Otton, plays for the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor. Born in 1941, at 83, in the Bendo Blazers Annual Outdoor Classic game, he recorded a 4-0 shutout! His day job was as a chartered accountant.

Paul Paleczny
Paul Paleczny, born in Kitchener in 1944, plays left wing for the KW Daytimers. He managed Life Insurance during his working career, played junior hockey, and now enjoys golf, skiing, bicycling and fishing

Gerry Pullin
Gerry Pullin was born in Galt, ON in 1945 and plays right wing for the Cambridge Monday Nighters. Farming and Farm Supply Business were his career, but he played a lot of hockey all through his life including over 50 tournaments. “Eat, sleep, play hockey and stay healthy”, is his motto.

Etienne Rail
Etienne Rail was born in Pigeon Hill, NB in 1945 and plays centre for the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor. His teams have finished in the medals in many tournaments over the years including CARHA, Michigan Senior Olympics, and Ontario Senior Games.

Ron Rockel
Ron Rockel plays forward for the KW Daytimers in Waterloo. Born in 1945, a Design Draftsman for 40 years, he refereed hockey for over 25 years and took up playing again as an oldtimer after retirement.

Keith Simison
Keith Simison hails from Saskatchewan where he was born in Tompkins in 1945. A right-winger with the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor, his career was in recreation, and he too, was on one of those Windsor teams that over the years finished in the medals in many tournaments including CARHA, Michigan Senior Olympics, and Ontario Senior Games.

Dave Talbot
Dave Talbot plays defense for the KW Daytimers and was born in 1945. He is one of those rare utility players who has played goalie, defense and forward at different times over the years. Still active in slow pitch, golf and hockey, he gave up travelling to tournaments at age 72!

Gary Tenant
Gary Tenant plays center and right wing for the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor and was born in 1946. He studied Metallurgical Engineering and worked for Dofasco for 37 years where he also played hockey. Active in hockey, he also enjoys biking, baseball, swimming, coaching and martial arts

Henry Verhoeven
Henry Verhoeven was born in the Netherlands in 1946. He plays defense for the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club in Windsor, but also plays for teams in Connecticut, Illinois and Michigan, and is just back from playing in Austria. His teams have finished in the medals in many tournaments including CARHA, Michigan Senior Olympics, and Ontario Senior Games.

Bob Walsh
Bob Walsh plays for the Peterborough Senior Hockey Club. Born in Newmarket in 1945, he played for several junior teams while growing up. His favourite saying is, “Everyday is a bonus.”

Dave Watton
Dave Watton was born in 1946 and plays for the Peterborough Senior Hockey Club. He studied biology and had a long career with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Like many other inductees, he has enjoyed lots of tournaments over the years but also likes running, hunting and fishing.

Bob Miller
Bob Miller, born in 1940, played in his 80th year and beyond for the Monday Nighters in Cambridge. A lawyer by trade, he played university hockey in his younger years, and now, along with hockey as an oldtimer, also enjoys fishing.

Duncan Bell
Duncan Bell plays centre for the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club. Born in 1946 in Simcoe, Ontario, his career was as a chartered accountant. He played minor, pick-up and industrial hockey, has also been a referee, and a member of the Burlington Oldtimers since 1979. His motto is, Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World!

Keith Macdonald
Keith Macdonald, born in 1946, plays defense for the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club. He worked in food services and workplace health and safety, and played recreational hockey in Manitoba, Trenton, Oakville and Burlington. In addition to hockey, he enjoys curling.

Barry McLaughlin plays for the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club.

Joe Kavanaugh
Joe Kavanaugh, born in 1946, and now a centre for the Burlington Oldtimers, studied psychology, law, and education and taught in high school and elementary school. He played high school hockey, university and intermediate A. His mentor was Harry Neale. “Just Do It” is his motto.

Mary Bradley
Mary Bradley plays wing for the Burlington Ladies Oldtimers Hockey Club and is a vibrant and inspiring member of the league. A graduate of both Bishops University and the University of Waterloo, she has 14 children and grandchildren and worked as a School Psychologist. Born in 1946, she enjoys golf, bridge, kayaking and reading, and her favourite saying is “Live, Laugh, Love”.

Bruce “Shooter” Bodden
Bruce “Shooter” Bodden, born in 1945, plays left wing for the Old Muskoka Lakers in Baysville, Ontario. He has four sons, all hockey players in their 40’s and 50’s now. Known as a relentless back checker, he was a teammate of Peter Mahovlich in the early years. Retired from executive roles in consulting engineering, in addition to hockey, he enjoys oil on canvas painting, open water swimming and skiing – downhill and cross country.
